Oracle and the Singapore Government aim to train 10,000 learners in key digital skills over three years to bolster the nation’s digital workforce.
National AI strategy
Josephine Teo, Singapore’s minister for communications and information and minister-in-charge of smart nation and cybersecurity, welcomes the initiative as a contribution to the nation’s AI strategy.
“When we launched the refreshed National AI Strategy (NAIS 2.0) in December last year, we set ambitious goals, one of which involves tripling our AI practitioner pool to 15,000 over the next five years,” Teo said.
Enhancing digital literacy
In collaboration with TIP Alliance, Oracle will offer 300 internships and apprenticeships to students and professionals across five polytechnics by 2027.
It will also provide certifications and training for up to 9,700 learners in Singapore in the latest technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, cybersecurity, data management, and autonomous databases.
The newly-introduced Gen AI Professional Certification of Oracle will equip learners with advanced skills and earn digital badges indicating job readiness for specialised roles.
“Our TechSkills Accelerator for Institute of Technical Education and Polytechnics Alliance (TIP Alliance) Alliance collaboration and Oracle University platform strongly align with Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative. By enhancing the digital literacy of the workforce, we aim to bolster local employment opportunities and equip individuals to navigate the complexities of the digital economy effectively,” said Garrett Ilg, executive vice president and general manager of Japan & Asia Pacific, Oracle.
